All-class wrestling rankings

In the Washington Wrestling Report’s latest all-classification wrestling rankings, South Sound wrestlers are ranked No. 1 in eight weight classes.


Here are the the top-ranked wrestlers:

103 – Bryce Evans, Rogers

119 – Efrain Aguilar, Graham-Kapowsin

125 – Sam Bauer, Enumclaw

140 – Jason Gray, Enumclaw

160 – Jim Belleville, Black Hills

171 – Taylor Meeks, Orting

189 – Jake Swartz, Auburn

285 – Tevyn Tillman, Decatur

SI says Bellarmine Prep runner’s victory one of 2008′s best moments

In Sports Illustrated’s The Year in Sports 2008 issue, the magazine listed what happened after the completion of the girls 3,200-meter race at the Class 4A Star Track meet one of the best moments of the year.


Bellarmine Prep’s Nicole Cochrane — and the other runners — thought Cochrane had won the race, but she was disqualified after a judge ruled she had stepped outside of her lane for three consecutive steps.

Here are the seventh annual all-state girls soccer teams, as selected by a panel of sportswriters from 12 newspapers around the state. Rene Ferran of the Tri-Cities Herald is to thank for compiling the nominations and counting the ballots.

To have received recognition, a player had to have been named on at least two ballots.
