NOTE: An earlier version of this story incorrectly said the game had been moved to Foss High School. It has been moved to Mount Tahoma High School.
Tonight’s Stadium-Foss high school girls’ soccer match will be played at Mount Tahoma High School instead of Stadium due to another problem with the turf in Stadium Bowl.
The match is scheduled at 7:15 p.m.
It was moved to Mount Tahoma after officials discovered what appears to be a misalignment of the seams in the artificial playing surface, Tacoma School District spokeswoman Leanna Albrecht said.
No other athletic activities have been rescheduled or canceled, she added.
It’s the second time this month Stadium’s girls have been sent on the road by a problem with the school’s turf. On Sept. 6, a sinkhole near the 5-yard line at the south end of the field sent the Stadium soccer team packing for a hastily scheduled away game. They played their match against Mountain View at Mount Tahoma High School. Two varsity football games the same week were moved from Stadium Bowl to Lincoln Bowl.
But Tacoma School District spokeswoman Leanna Albrecht said this afternoon officials expect only the rescheduling of the soccer match this time.
The contractor that repaired the turf after the sinkhole was discovered is scheduled to return to Stadium Bowl tonight to work on the field.
"There was a slight separation of the seams," Albrecht said. "It’s a safety concern. We don’t want kids playing on it."
