Shaunice Samms made the go-ahead bucket with 30 seconds left to put Mount Tahoma up 51-50, and ReNesha Pate made two free throws to seal the victory. The Thunderbirds take fifth place for the second year in a row, and Jackson gets eighth place.

Samms upped her state career tournament blocks record to 52, and broke her own state tournament record of 21 blocks with 31 blocks this year. She also holds the single-game record with 13 blocks from last year. And Samms still has a chance to get back next year — the 5-9 post is only a junior.
