Federal Way coach strikes a pose

There’s no formal fashion contest at this year’s state tournament, but if there was, Federal Way coach Jerome Collins would easily have the inside track at the title.

During Thursday’s loss to Kentwood, Collins sported a tan-and-beige-striped suit, cut loose and worn over a black shirt with a white collar. After the game, he replaced his jacket with an uber-stylish black overcoat and scarf.

And on Wednesday, Collins coached in a plaid blue suit.

Kentwood coach Michael Angelidis – himself wearing dark trousers and a black mock turtleneck, a la former Iowa State coach Larry Eustachy – joked he found inspiration in Collins’ choice of attire.

“I’m thinking of getting myself two suits like that: a blue one and a beige one,” he said
