So far Ferris is as advertised. The Saxons have it all, heady guard play, scoring down low and defensive presence. Guard Shawn Stockton (yes, that’s John Stockton’s nephew) is as about as good of guard is there is in this tournament. He plays with toughness, smarts and can do a little bit of everything. Stockton has 10 points, while 6-7 forward DeAngelo Casto also has 10.
Kentwood’s Josh Smith has 11 first half points and five rebounds, and about 30 college coaches drooling with his every move. So far coaches from USC, Oregon, Northern Arizona, Portland State, CEntral Washington, Eastern and Western are here. Just about every coach from the NWAAC is also here. Huskies head coach Lorenzo Romar is also in attendance.
Kentwood must find a way to get Cody Thueringer going. He just two points on 1-of-7 shooting.
