EWU locks up Powers, Barnes
Eastern Washington University continued its tradition of plucking some of the best South Sound athletes to play in Cheney. Joining Gig Harbor’s Toney Henderson will be Tahoma High’s Chris Powers and Timberline’s Bobby Barnes.
Powers was a News Tribune all-area selection as a defensive lineman, and named the SPSL North defensive lineman of year. At 6-4, 265 pounds, Powers also was a first-team SPSL North selection as an offensive lineman.
Barnes was a News Tribune all-area selection as a wide receiver. At 5-9 and 165 pounds, Barnes totaled over 1,000 all-purpose yards for the Blazers, has good quickness
