Several holiday wrestling tournaments will be held over the weekend as the prep wrestling season gears up. The biggest is the Pacific Coast wrestling championships in Vancouver, Wash, where several of the top wrestlers and teams from Washington and Oregon will face off to see who’s best. Check out this link to see the brackets.

Closer to home, Vashon High will host its annual The Rock tournament, which features several of the top smaller school wrestling programs, including Orting, which has two-time state champion Tony Farrington (pictured above). Vashon, Lakeside, Quincy, Aberdeen, Everett, Hoquiam, Forks, Blaine, and Mt. Baker also will compete at the tournament. Read more about Farrington and some area wrestlers to watch here.

Curtis High also will host an all-day tournament today. The teams include Sumner, White River, Franklin Pierce, Mt Tahoma, Wilson, Gig Harbor, Tacoma Baptist, Capitol, Todd Beamer, Lake Washington, Sammamish, and Auburn.
