One of the best players in the state will be in the South Sound on Wednesday, taking on the Clover Park boys basketball team.

Senior Steven Gray, a 6-4, silky shooting guard for Bainbridge who committed to Gonzaga the summer before his junior season , will showcase his skills at 7 p.m. against the Warriors.

The trip also is a homecoming of sorts for Scott Orness, who coached at nearby Franklin Pierce High along with his father, Bruce. Bruce Orness is part of the Bainbridge High boys basketball coaching staff.

Gray is an athletic guard that can handle the ball well, shoot, post-up and rebound. He’s averaging 24.2 points per game for his high school career.

He should be an impact player right away for the Zags. Read more about Gray in this Kitsap Sun story .
