A quick note

For a few people wondering, these all-conference teams that we have on the blog are the officials ones voted on by the coaches. We have nothing to do with it other than posting the results on the web.

However, we are in the process of selecting our highly presitigious all-area squads which are taken from every league in the South Sound. That will be announced on Thanksgiving day.

Prep Picks: Licking our wounds

That’s what Ryan, Todd and I our doing after going 6-7 last week.

But we’re not the only ones. In what has been well discussed this week, most South Sound teams will be spectators as state quarterfinal games roll on.

Timberline at Auburn should be a good game tonight at Auburn Memorial Stadium. It seems that the Blazers have the athletes to give the Trojans a run.

Life Christian vs. Adna down in Tumwater on Saturday, 4 p.m. should also be a good one. And if you want to catch a doubleheader you can head down to

A down year for South Sound football?

After this weekend’s state first-round contests not many local teams remain standing, as several were knocked out on Friday and Saturday.

The victims include Puyallup, Tahoma, Gig Harbor, Curtis, Olympia, Franklin Pierce, Lakes, Fife, Steilacoom, Cascade Christian, Orting and Tacoma Baptist.

No local 4A teams made the quarterfinals.

The Evergreen League has shown its strength in Class 2A, with three teams (Tumwater, Centralia and W.F. West) advancing to the quarterfinals.

Auburn and Timberline moved onto the quarterfinal round, but play each other next week.

Life Christian advanced to the quarterfinals in Class 2B.
