Democrats gather tonight for Lacey crab feed still feeling wins from 2012 elections

Gov. Jay Inslee and Washington’s three newest members of Congress are featured speakers tonight at the state Democratic Party’s yearly crab feed fund raiser in Lacey. The $50 per person event starts after 5 p.m. at the Saint Martin’s University Pavilion. It follows an all-day grassroots organizing forum that runs all day at the college campus.

State Democrats re-elect Dwight Pelz as state chairman; follows GOP’s re-election of Kirby Wilbur as chair

Washington Democrats have re-elected Dwight Pelz to another two-year term as state chairman, following an election cycle that saw his party’s slate win the governor’s race for the eight-straight term. Democratic candidates also won all but one statewide executive office (Republican Kim Wyman won the secretary of state job).

Pelz had no opponent, the party said in a news release.

The Democrats’ vote follows the state Republican Party’s re-election of Kirby Wilbur as state chairman a few weeks ago. Wilbur, a former talk-radio host first elected in 2011, faced two challengers and won on a second ballot.
