The Office of the Secretary of State says it has created two permanent web sites to store the web pages of former Washington governor Chris Gregoire’s two terms in office and also her transition or governor-elect site in 2005. Gregoire left office last month after an eight-year run.

The new sites are reachable on the same state Archives Office site that also has web storage for former governor Gary Locke (1997-2005), former governor Mike Lowry (1993-1997) and even Gregoire’s big rival in the 2004 election – “Gov. Elect Dino Rossi.”

Both Gregoire and Rossi had transition offices at the General Administration Building in late 2004 and early 2005 after their near-tie in the general election. The result had to be sorted out in two recounts and a series of court battles that did not end until mid-2005.

In the end a Wenatchee Superior Court judge rejected Rossi’s legal challenge seeking to toss out the results. In a ruling Rossi declined to appeal, the judge took four votes from is total, giving Gregoire the historic 133-vote victory margin.

The rest, as they say, is history.
