DSHS Secretary Kevin Quigley reorganizes agency

 

The state’s largest agency is reorganizing under its new leader appointed by Gov. Jay Inslee.

Kevin Quigley, a former state senator and shipyard president, took over the helm of the Department of Social and Health Services last month. He announced today he would break up the subdivision that deals with the elderly, mentally ill and developmentally disabled into three parts, one for each of those areas.

On the other hand, the juvenile-rehabilitation subdivision is expanding to include new duties including oversight of the Special Commitment Center, which houses some of the state’s most dangerous sex offenders.
