Galland files for Skip Priest’s legislative seat

Republican Jerry Galland filed this week for the Federal Way-area legislative seat being vacated by Rep. Skip Priest.

“I want to represent you in Olympia with your voice saying ‘It’s Time Things Changed!’” Galland said in a press release. “We can and will control spending. But we need to remove from office, and stop electing, career politicians.”

A resident of unincorporated King County, Galland helped lead the successful 2007 fight against annexation into Federal Way and launched an unsuccessful effort to change state annexation law.

At least four other candidates have entered the the 30th District race since Priest announced he would leave the House to run for Federal Way mayor.

Democrats Roger Flygare, chief executive of a court-reporting company, and Carol Gregory, who leads a Renton-based anti-poverty group, have registered campaigns with the Public Disclosure Commission. Two other Republicans have registered, Milton Mayor Katrina Asay and Federal Way school board member Ed Barney.
