The House Appropriations Committee could vote starting at 1:30 p.m. today on House Democrats’ $34.5 billion budget proposal Wednesday. The plan would put an additional $1.9 billion into K-12 education, but also raise $1.3 billion in tax revenue.

The House Committee on Government Accountability & Oversight has scheduled a 9:30 a.m. possible vote on House Bill 2000. The proposal would require the state Liquor Control Board to auction marijuana growing and selling licenses to the highest bidders and would reduce the allowable proximity of marijuana shops to schools, day cares, parks and other public facilities from 1,000 feet to 500 feet.

Drunk driving legislation is the subject of a public hearing happening now in the Senate Law and Justice Committee. A bill that could be used to make changes to penalties, Senate Bill 5902, remained a title-only bill as of Wednesday afternoon. Sen. Mike Padden, R-Spokane Valley, is the bill’s sponsor.
