The Public Disclosure Commission has opened several formal investigations in the past month, including one into a long-running complaint involving initiative promoter Tim Eyman.
The targets of the elections watchdog agency’s probes include:
- Eyman and his Initiative 517, accused of using money intended for another, business-backed initiative to gather signatures for this one.
- Preserve Marriage Washington, accused of failing to report staff pay for the campaign against Referendum 74 and same-sex marriage.
- The Senate Democratic Campaign Committee and its former director, Michael King, who the committee says stole campaign funds.
