Who needs white smoke when you have Twitter?

Less than 30 minutes after being named world leader of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis tweeted out his first message to more than 1.75 million Twitter followers.

“HABEMUS PAPAM FRANCISCUM,” the tweet in all-caps reads.   (In English, that translates to someone shouting: “We have Pope Francis.”)Pope's first tweet

But despite the quick social media strike from the new pontiff, it doesn’t appear the former Argentinian Cardinal known as Jorge Mario Bergoglio  has entirely figured out this Twitter thing just yet.

The Pope’s twitter account — @Pontifex — lists 8 followers.  All of them are @Pontifex, or his own account.

But hey, maybe he figures the Pope’s advice is all he needs?
