Today at 5 p.m. is the deadline for lawmakers to consider House bills in the House and Senate bills in the Senate — with the exception of many budget-related proposals.

With more than 110 bills awaiting a floor vote in the Senate and nearly 80 in the House, lawmakers have their work cut out for them. The Senate and House have scheduled floor sessions starting at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m., respectively.

The House Judiciary Committee will hold an 8 a.m. public hearing on seven proposals, including Senate Bill 5176, which makes it easier to keep patients detained after they are found incompetent to stand trial because of mental illness.
