Topics will include beer and wine sampling at farmers markets and liquor licenses at senior centers when the Senate Committee on Commerce & Labor holds public hearings on 11 bills related to alcohol at 1:30 p.m. today.

At the same time, lawmakers will explore one of this session’s key issues when the House Finance Committee receives an overview of the Joint Task Force on Education Funding’s work to address revenue necessary to fund basic education under the McCleary court decision. The committee also has set aside time for public comment.

Schools also will take center stage on the Senate floor if leaders follow through on plans to vote today on $544 million in proposed K-12 school construction funding.

Elsewhere, an estimated 550 people will attend an 11:30 a.m. rally for Housing and Homelessness Advocacy Day, sponsored by the Washington Low Income Housing Alliance.
