Tacoma: It’s Hammer Time for Mayor Marilyn Strickland

Apparently, Marilyn Strickland can touch this.

In a photograph recently posted to the City of Tacoma’s Facebook page, that, indeed, is Tacoma’s mayor cozied up to none other than early ’90s pop sensation M.C. Hammer.
Strickland and Hammer
Her Honor met Mr. Hammertime at the U.S. Conference of Mayors 81st Winter Meeting in Washington, D.C.

“MC Hammer was invited to speak on civic innovation in his homebase of San Francisco,” according the photo caption.

Strickland, a regular attendee of the mayoral group’s meetings, is on hand to participate in a conference this year that focuses on  job creation, gun control and immigration among other issues.

Hammer isn’t the only celeb (of sorts) attending the event.   Hip-hop soul crew, The Roots are there, as is singer-songwriter John Legend.  Other “rock star” attendees from the world of politics include New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Attorney General Eric Holder and Vice President Joe Biden, to name a few.

No word yet whether Tacoma’s mayor has broken out her parachute pants, but we’ll update this post as news develops …
