Gun rights rally organizers to supporters: No camouflage and ‘KEEP YOUR WEAPON HOLSTERED’

Gun rights supporters planning to rally at “high noon” Saturday at the state Capitol to protest the expansion of gun control laws want to make a good impression.guns across America

In advance of the event, organizers of the rally have issued “expectations” for their supporters. Among them:

• “Responsible legal carry is permitted and encouraged. But, keep in mind, we’re not trying to have a media field day with what looks like a bunch of paranoid hillbillies or crazed militants, so carry responsibly and respectfully. Concealed carry is encouraged and permitted ONLY if you have your Washington State CPL.”
• “Please dress appropriately for the message we are trying to convey. The media will misconstrue our message if we all show up in camouflage or fatigues (see: crazed militants). A nice shirt, slacks, jeans and t-shirts for some, for some, a suit and tie. The general consensus is business casual, but at the very least, nothing extreme. Let’s freak the media out with such a positive image of the American gun owner that they cannot spin a negative message.”
• “If you carry a handgun, YOU WILL KEEP YOUR WEAPON HOLSTERED AT ALL TIMES. I don’t care if the Westboro Baptist Church shows up; all weapons must stay holstered.”

The gathering at the state Capitol Campus is among the Guns Across America rallies happening around the nation that day.
