Tacoma’s City Council likely will name its next council member later today, after a round of public interviews and private discussions.
As we reported here, the council intends to interview each applicant for the job during a live broadcast on Tacoma TV 12 beginning at noon today. The council is expected to convene to an executive session to discuss the candidates’ qualifications, then select the new member during the Council’s regular meeting at 5 p.m.
Seven applicants have applied to fill the District 2 seat, vacated by seven year Councilman Jake Fey on Dec. 31. Fey left the council after winning election in November to the state Legislature. The applicants include Monica Alexander, Philip Cowan, David D’Aniello, Carolyn Edmonds, Jon Higley, Patricia Lecy-Davis and Robert Thoms. (For more information about the candidates, click here).
