The City of Tacoma announced this week that it is looking for exceptional volunteers to honor with a City of Destiny Award.
The awards program, now in its 27th year, recognizes people who have lent their time and talents to making Tacoma a better place.
To be eligible, a volunteer must have:
• given their time and energy, not money,
• done good deeds without financial compensation, and
• volunteered within Tacoma’s city limits.
In some categories, the volunteer work also must have been done within the past 12 months. Past award winners are eligible if they are nominated in a new award category, or if it has been at least seven years since they received a City of Destiny Award.
The nomination form is available at cityoftacoma.org/destinyawards. Hard copies can be found at Tacoma Public Library branches, the City Clerk’s Office (Tacoma Municipal Building, 747 Market St., Room 220) and the City Manager’s Office (Tacoma Municipal Building, 747 Market St., 12th Floor).
Nominations will be accepted until Jan. 18.
