In his first post-campaign press conference today, the Democrat announced the co-chairs of his Transition Committee, a group heavy on education experience:

  • Renton School District Superintendent Mary Alice Heuschel.
  • Microsoft General Counsel Brad Smith.
  • Washington State University President Elson Floyd.

“These are change agents and they are going to bring to our administration an attitude of an expectation of change,” Inslee said.

Brian Bonlender, who served as the then-congressman’s chief of staff and as a senior advisor to his campaign, will be the transition director.

The rest of the transition team has yet to be named but Inslee said it would include supporters of Republican Rob McKenna. (Smith made campaign contributions to both Inslee and McKenna.)

Inslee said his administration would include people of all political stripes. Contact his team, he said, “If you are a Republican and you want to serve in an administration dedicated to change.”
