It was  disappointing day for the attendees at the GOP election party in Lakewood. Republicans
struggled to come out with victories.  Paul Wagemann,  Steven Cook and Terry Harder were
among the Republicans in attendance who lost their races for the state House. Dick Muri appeared to be losing his campaign for the new 10th Congressional District.

Cook, was the Republican candidates in the 27th District, Terry Harder in the 29th District and Wagemann of the  28th District all were trailing in first returns Tuesday.

Muri was running in a new district, thought to slightly Democrats.  April Sanders, Finance Director of Muri’s campaign,  still thinks it is  “up in the air.”   Fundraising played a large factor in this election. Sanders states that Muri was outspent “eight to one”.

Joel Baxter, campaign manager, says that “running tv ads and radio made the difference,” because it is a
new district.

Taking the loss, Baxter thinks, “we ran a strong campaign,” and Sanders “hopes (Democrat) Denny Heck will serve
his district well.”
