A final debate between Republican Dick Muri and Democrat Denny Heck starts at 7 a.m. today in Lakewood, marking the last time the candidates in Washington’s new 10th Congressional District appear side by side before the election. The event is sponsored by the nonpartisan civil group Lakewood United  and takes place at Burs Restaurant, 6151 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Tacoma. It will not be televised.

Also today, the League of Women Voters of Thurston County hosts speakers on the pros and cons of two ballot measures – I-502, which proposes to legalize marijuana and tax its sale by the state, and I-1240, which proposes to allow up to 40 public-financed charter schools that meet state criteria over the next five years. The event starts with a social at 6 p.m. and speakers at 6:30 p.m. at Traditions Café on Fifth Avenue in downtown Olympia.
