Tonight’s debate between Democrat Denny Heck and Republican Dick Muri in Washington’s new 10th Congressional District is going to be taped by the TVW network, which also plans to stream it live at 7 p.m. at its web site at tvw.org.

The League of Women Voters of Thurston County is sponsoring the debate with The Olympian, and doors open to the public at 6 p.m. at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Olympia.

Mike Bay, a vice president with the network, said the debate will also be rebroadcast on Channel 23 at 11 a.m. and at 7:30 p.m. next Tuesday and again at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19. Those wanting to stream it from the TVW site can do so at any time – starting around Friday.

Thurston Community Television also is airing it in Thurston County – details are here.

Barb Theiss of the League said the 7 p.m. event was shortened to an hour, because the Heck campaign said it had a conflict in going longer.

But Heck spokesman Phil Gardner said there appeared to be a “miscommunication” with the league. He said the campaign initially agreed to a one-hour debate starting at 7:30 and always assumed it would continue to be one-hour-long after the start time was moved back.
