Tacoma: In state’s 27th Legislative District races, Darneille, Jinkins and Fey leading

In Tacoma’s 27th District, state Rep. Jeannie Darneille is holding a big lead over fellow Democrat and trial lawyer Jack Connelly in the race for senate.

Incumbent state Rep. Laurie Jinkins is cruising to an easy primary victory in her House race against Republican challenger Steven T. Cook.

And, in the district’s closest contest — for the open state House Position 2 seat — Jake Fey is beating Lauren Walker by about three percentage points in the battle of two sitting Tacoma City Council members.

But all of the district’s primary contests are anti-climatic, because each includes only two candidates. That ensures that, no matter what happens in the primary, all candidates will advance to the general election ballot.

Primary results can carry some weight in determining who has the advantage heading into November, however.  That can help in fundraising.

Here are the 27th district’s results with about 19th percent of the vote counted:
