The first returns are in, and they don’t look good for Pierce County assessor-treasurer Dale Washam. The first set of election returns shows him in fourth place, with 10.7 percent of the vote. Former Tacoma City Councilman Mike Lonergan is leading the pack with 40 percent of the vote.

In the race for second place and a spot on the general election ballot, political newcomer Billie O’Brien is leading County Councilman Tim Farrell, 24 percent to 19 percent. The spread between second and third is a bit more than 3,000 votes, with many ballots remaining.
