Pierce County Council members Stan Flemming and Dick Muri have clashed over many statements they’ve made during their race for the new 10th Congressional District seat.
Here’s one where Muri, R-Steilacoom, concedes he was wrong: who sponsored the 25-year sunset clause for the South Sound 911 sales tax increase voters approved in November.
Flemming’s campaign has pointed out that Muri claimed during a debate in March that he sponsored the sunset on the tax. Flemming, R-University Place, said he was the prime sponsor of the clause, which council documents confirm.
When asked by The News Tribune, Muri said he thought the amendment was offered by a council committee he sits on, but later learned he was incorrect.
