The Gig Harbor Republican running for the 6th Congressional District loaned his campaign $50,000, helping bring the total owed to Cloud by his campaign to more than $107,000 and the total in his campaign bank account to more than $44,000.

That includes $12,000 in contributions in the year’s second quarter, all from individuals rather than political committees, according to campaign-finance disclosures filed Sunday.

Cloud, a lawyer, is making his fifth run for the seat but believes his chances are better this time since he doesn’t have to face U.S. Rep. Norm Dicks. He’s one of five Republicans hoping to go up against state Sen. Derek Kilmer to succeed Dicks.

But he trails the well-funded Democrat as well as wealthy Republican Bill Driscoll in fundraising. Here’s our post on Kilmer and one on Driscoll.

Cloud’s biggest contributors in the period from April to June included Tacoma’s David Haley, Medosweet Farms founder Cliff Flintoff, and Chad Wright of the Puyallup Tribe of Indians.
