Gov. Chris Gregoire is planning a trade mission to Ireland, Wales and England next month, landing in Dublin on July 4 for what will be her final overseas jaunt before leaving office in January. A total of eight state employees including the Democratic governor are going, and Gregoire’s spokeswoman says no taxpayer dollars are being spent for the governor’s own staffers.
UPDATE: Details outlined by Gregoire’s press office are here. Gregoire is taking her director of international protocol Brent Heinemann, her communications director Cory Curtis, state Commerce Secretary Rogers Weed and three other Commerce staffers. The eighth person going is Alex Pietsch, director of Gregoire’s new Office on Aerospace.
