Although speakers at the GOP convention called for party unity, the crowd was anything but unified. At the mention of nominee Mitt Romney — and the suggestion that the GOP unite around his campaign — boos could be heard in the audience.

“Vote Ron Paul!” was shouted by an audience member during a video of Rick Santorum. When Lew Moore called on the party to unite around Romney, there were loud boos.

Paul supporters were out in force at the convention center.

Mike Vandenbos and Ian Wilson are Republicans who are sweet on Ron Paul: They make the “Ron Paul Bar” — a chocolate bar with Paul’s image on them.

Wilson and Vandenbos started the chocolate company because they felt Paul was the “only candidate worthy of his own chocolate bar,” Vandenbos said. They wanted to do something more positive than the usual political fare.

“Debates lead to animosity, but chocolate leads to a smile and conversation,” Vandenbos said.
