Citizens United making film critical of Obama

Citizens United, the conservative group whose film criticizing Hillary Clinton led to the Supreme Court decision known by the same name, is finishing up a new election-year movie about President Barack Obama.

The movie was supposed to have one of its first-ever screenings Friday in front of Washington Republicans at their convention in Tacoma.

But production of the movie has yet to finish, said state GOP Chairman Kirby Wilbur, who sits on the board of Citizens United.

Citizens United didn’t return a phone call today, but Wilbur said the Obama film would be similar to “Hillary: The Movie.” The group also made a movie about Obama during his 2008 presidential campaign, according to its website.

In 2008, the group wanted to show its “Hillary” film just before primary elections, but it was restricted by campaign finance laws — so it challenged them, leading to the court decision that has loosened the rules on money in politics.
