10th CD: Ferguson wants help for veterans

Family therapist Jennifer Ferguson filed to run for Congress as a Democrat in Washington’s new 10th district this month. She wants to advocate for better care for military veterans and for jobs.

Helping soldiers with stress disorders is a particular concern to her – “especially as they are coming home,’’ Ferguson said Friday in a telephone interview from her Lakewood office. “We also need to work with their families, the children and the wives. They are the quiet and silent injured.”

Ferguson, a political unknown to Pierce County Democratic Party leaders, lives in University Place and was the sixth candidate to file this month for the new district. The 10th starts in Shelton, includes most of Thurston County and runs north to University Place and Puyallup.
