House Republican Leader Richard DeBolt of Chehalis filed for re-election this morning and says he expects his party to move closer to parity with Democrats in the November election.
“I think it is going to be an interesting election. I’m not going to predict we are going to win the majority but I am going to say it’s going to be close – closer than it’s ever been. I think it’s the quality of the candidate,” DeBolt said in the lobby of the Office of the Secretary of State. “Six to nine would be, I think, achievable.”
Those nine or so races where DeBolt says his party has a shot includes in the 26th against Democratic Rep. Larry Seaquist of Gig Harbor and in the 28th for an open seat and against Democratic Rep. Tami Green of Lakewood.
