Corey Drury

An engineer for a Sumner baking company has filed to run for the Pierce County Council.

Corey Drury, R-Spanaway, is seeking the District 3 council seat, running against another Republican, Jim McCune. They are seeking the position being vacated by term-limited Roger Bush, R-Frederickson.

Drury, 25, is a candidate for elected office for the first time.

“I think it’s time for someone of my generation to make a difference for the government we have now,” Drury said. “I’m willing to make the point that we all need to work together to solve the problems we have in Pierce County in these tough economic times.”

Drury, who is single, works as an engineer for Pacific Northwest Baking in Sumner.
