Laurie Jinkins, first elected to her 27th District House seat in 2010, has announced she will run for re-election.

Jinkins, a Democrat, is the deputy director at the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department. In a statement, she touted her sponsorship of a jobs act that promises to put 18,000 people to work across the state, in part by building a new Community Health Center in Tacoma’s Hilltop and a new Allied Health Education & Training Center at Tacoma Community College.

“I’ve never regretted my decision to run,” Jinkins said, “Even though the 2012 sessions were particularly difficult. But I’m proud the budget reflects our values, and puts the community on the path to a brighter future.”

Jinkins has opened a campaign office with her seatmate, fellow Democrat and candidate for state senate, Jeanne Darneille. According to Public Disclosure Commission records, no challengers have yet filed for Jinkins’ seat.
