The state is seeking public comment on the city of Tacoma’s revisions to its Shoreline Master Program.

The revisions, which took five years and were approved by the city council in December, are required by the state’s shoreline management act.

The comment period runs from April 23 to June 7 and 5 p.m. The state can accept the revisions with or without changes or it can send it back to the city for more work.

The master program is a joint city-state project that sets up the goals and rules for managing the 46 miles of shoreline within the city.

Here is the link to the DOE webpage devoted to receiving comments. It contains links to the revised plan, state laws governing the shorelines and the planning documents created during the process.
