A proposal to let victims of impersonation on social networking websites more easily sue their impersonators was signed into law by Gov. Chris Gregoire today.

The measure will make Washington one of the few states where victims can sue specifically for electronic impersonation, which will be easier to prove than current avenues, some say.

It takes effect 90 days after the session ends.

See The News Tribune’s January story about the proposal, and a press release about the signing.
