Draft jobs plan is smaller at $1 billion

Advocates for a legislative jobs plan are outlining their hopes in a news conference this morning. Meanwhile, majority Democrats trying to work with Republicans on a bipartisan proposal appear to be shrinking their proposal to a $1 billion level – half what the Washington State Labor Council, Associated General Contractors of Washington and others are seeking.

Democratic Rep. Hans Dunshee’s plan in the House is for about $995 million in projects – with just over $1.1 billion in financing. That suggests room to add projects above what he is said to be considering.
