Brad Flaherty today replaced Suzan DelBene as the Department of Revenue director.

Gov. Chris Gregoire appointed Flaherty, who was serving as the deputy director, effective immediately.

Democrat DelBene announced yesterday that she was leaving to campaign for congress in the 1st District, which runs from Medina to Blaine. It’s seen as a competitive region under recent redistricting, and a number of contenders have already said they’ll run.

Here’s the Associated Press brief on DelBene’s departure, and the press release on Flaherty’s appointment.
