Criminal justice is on the agenda today in the House.

The budget committee holds a public hearing on Gov. Chris Gregoire’s budget-cutting proposals to release some inmates early and supervise them less after prison. Rep. Jeannie Darneille of Tacoma is sponsoring the measures.

And another Tacoma lawmaker, Rep. Connie Ladenburg, has a bill up for a hearing in the Public Safety committee. It aims to prevent duplication and dissemination of child pornography in criminal cases.

The defense would still have a right to examine the pornography, as required by the state Supreme Court, but it must stay in law enforcement custody.

Elsewhere, the elections-watchdog Public Disclosure Commission meets today in a session closed to the public.
