Not exactly scientific but kind of interesting nonetheless, the Washington Republican Party conducted an e-mail straw poll among self-identified Republicans over the last week and ended up with results similar to national polls.

The digital straw poll was part of the party’s year-end survey and results were collected between Dec. 22 and Dec. 31.

Here are their results:

Mitt Romney 27.49%
Newt Gingrich 25.77%
Ron Paul 18.43%
Rick Santorum 11.31%
Michele Bachmann 8.76%
Rick Perry 5.47%
Jon Huntsman 2.77%

WSRP Chairman Kirby Wilbur said this: “Our straw poll results are not all that different from other statewide or national polls. We’ll see how Iowa turns out tonight.”
