Legislature is adjourned

The House and Senate adjourned the special session at 3:49 p.m. today after passing bills that include closure of the state’s $2 billion budget gap by almost one fourth. Today marked Day 17 of 30 scheduled.

There was a twist to the ceremony known as sine die, in which the House and Senate doors are flung open to let the presiding officer in each chamber look across the Legislative Building at each other and bang their gavels together.
