How the House voted on Wenatchee debt rescue

A bipartisan vote in the state House sent a financial rescue bill for Wenatchee’s public-owned event center to the Senate in a last-ditch effort Monday to avoid a formal default on $42 million in bonds. But Sen. Ed Murray, who chairs the budget committee, opposes the rescue and said “as of today” there were not enough votes to pass it in the Senate.

The 56-to-33 House vote marked passage of the first bill since lawmakers began their 30-day session that is supposed to be focused on a $2 billion budget gap.
