Supporters of full marriage rights for same-sex couples are gearing up for a big push in the 2012 legislative session — and maybe beyond, on the November ballot.

A coalition called Washington United for Marriage held a campaign kickoff news conference today and will host public meetings around the state to rally support.

The forums start today at First Christian Church of Puyallup, 623 9th Ave, and continue Tuesday at Clover Park Technical College and Wednesday at United Methodist Church, 7400 Pioneer Way in Gig Harbor. All three events are from 6:30 p.m. -8 p.m.

See the website for details on forums in Vancouver, Seattle, Bellevue, Richland, Spokane and Bellingham.

The campaign is spearheaded by the American Civil Liberties Union of Washington and other civil-liberties and liberal groups including Equal Rights Washington, Human Rights Campaign, Legal Voice and Planned Parenthood Votes Northwest. They tout support from unions, faith-based groups and more.
