DeBolt: Finish new budget now, skip 2012 session

House Republican Leader Richard DeBolt has been telling people he thinks the Democrat-controlled Legislature should try to complete work to bridge a $2 billion budget gap by Christmas, then skip the 60-day session scheduled to start Jan. 9.

The Chehalis Republican also wants lawmakers to spend time on jobs creation, in effect cutting holes in the state Growth Management Act, according to a news release he put out today. But he’s not getting takers out of the blocks – including from Gov. Chris Gregoire.

UPDATE – Coroner: Sen. White died of heart problem

The Kittitas County Coroner’s Office did an autopsy on state Sen. Scott White and concluded he died of “a cardiac event” due to an undiagnosed heart problem. The press release from Deputy Coroner Paul Sander said:

ELLENSBURG, Wash. — The Kittitas County Coroner's office has completed its investigation into the unexpected death of State Senator Scott White last Friday at Suncadia Lodge near Roslyn.
