That’s the word from the governor’s office today, which was getting regular updates Tuesday evening on the bargaining between striking teachers and the school district.

Negotiations were called off Tuesday night and weren’t expected to resume today, but Gregoire says she has “directed” them back to the bargaining table this morning starting at 10 a.m. Both sides agreed after talking to her on the phone.

Gregoire says in a statement:

If no deal is reached by 3 p.m. this afternoon, both the district and the union will report to my office and stay until their differences are reconciled and the school doors reopen.

Gregoire’s office announced this afternoon that the governor will not attend the HCL Technologies and CMC Biologics’ events today because of the teachers’ strike.
