Judge grants no-contact order against Robert ‘The Traveller’ Hill

A judge has granted another protective order against Robert “The Traveller” Hill, requiring the political gadfly and candidate to stay away from an organizer of Tacoma’s marijuana initiative.

Robert Hill

Hill had set up a political committee, Sensible Tacoma, in support of Initiative 1 but separate from the committee that secured a ballot spot for the measure. He reproduced the Cannabis Reform Act website and used campaign manager Sherry Bockwinkel‘s phone number while making robo-calls to drum up support.

Bockwinkel called it harassment. Pierce County District Court Judge James Heller this week signed a no-contact order ordering Hill to stay at least 100 feet away from Bockwinkel’s workplace for two years. He can still send her mail about the initiative.

Hill said that was fair and he has apologized. “It’s only 100 feet. Norm Dicks is like 1,000, or at least 500,” he said.

Hill also is under protective orders requested by U.S. Rep. Dicks, his aide and County Auditor Julie Anderson. They and others have accused him of various harassing behaviors.

Hill turns the accusation back around: “It’s political harassment through the legal system,” he said.
