Folks celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Walter Wilder and Harry White’s design for the state Capitol Campus this week have unearthed a few photos that depict early work on the Temple of Justice and domed Capitol.

Sue Lean, a professional exhibitor who worked with the Wilder and White commemorative committee, says they are still trying to figure out who all the people are in some of their pictures.

For instance, in one photo of huge sandstone blocks at the Wilkeson quarry in east Pierce County, the only known figure is Orien Summerfield Rambo, standing with hands on his hips outside the door of the quarry shed. The photo is thought to date to about 1917 when final sandstone work was being done on the structure that houses the state Supreme Court, Lean says.
